I'm replacing the clutch and trans in my '99 coupe with 84k mi. The guy I bought the clutch from (he's not doing the installation) strongly recommended replacing the rubber torque tube couplers. Logic goes that they're rubber, 10yrs old, and probably shot. Since I'm already in there, it's cheap insurance.
Problem is my mechanic has never done that procedure and is not comfortable doing it. I guess it's got to be done spot on, or it'll vibrate like a MF'er.
He's called all the local drive train specialists (Orange County CA) and no one has done it. I put him in touch with the guy I bought them from, but that didn't help. He admits it's a touchy procedure.
So the question is, do they really need replacement?
What are your plans for the car.. DD HPDE sell it soon.. you probably will have to once you get into it. a torque tube w/ 84k will need both bushings and at least one(rear) bearing. then thier is the whole solid bushing question.. good luck
