But things slow down for them as they inevitably do, the customers that they've turned away will have become loyal to someone else and won't come back.

Your lucky to live in Texas where there a lot of very good shops like EnglandGreen. If you want to drive to Arizona, I know my friends at Xtreme will not turn you away, and will be happy to help you!

I think it is better for Hennessey to say they can't do the job than to promise what they can't deliver. I am glad you posted this - I have some mods in mind and will not waste time with them. Many other great choices in Houston. Might check with Terry at Vetttech if you are on the west side of town.

More than likely, I wasn't going with them anyways. I do, however, research, and contact all the shops in area, and keep my options open. I would have liked a quote, and would have been willing to take 3 hours of my time to drive back out there and have another consultation. I like to get a feal for everybody before I dump cash. In Houston, we have so many( Gforce, LMR, EnglandGreeen, Icon, Pavloc, Etc.). I have told Jason and Stephen, that I will probably be going with them for the work later this year. However, as a consumer, I still keep my options open. They do a good job of warming the customer, but unlike my experiences with Robert at GForce, and Mike and Stephen at England Green, they did not follow up.

This thread was never meant to rant on Hennessey. They did quote me work for a simple SC install, which wouldn't be much more, maybe less than a head/cam install. They did not want to have any part of doing heads/cams. Curious that they switched gears so fast on a within a matter of a couple months.

It's too bad that some shops become too big for their own britches. I remember a shop in Houston when I grew up. They had this philosophy. They shared the same name with another company in Georgia. "M" was the first letter or their 3 letter name. Unlike the company in Georgia, they are no longer doing business.

I remember reading about Hennessey's cars in magazines when I was young. Their Vipers, ETC. Nice shop, but I guess 5k and an old c5 Z no longer fits their company image.

Hope they keep it up, out there in Sealy. I sure as hell will not be driving out there to their track, and I will spread the word to other car owners. But what the hell, it's only a 4-5k job, they could care less when they work on vipers/gt 500's all day long.
Mark - I talked to Jan here at Xtreme....he offered to come pick your car up in our enclosed trailer. We would have to charge for the mileage, but we are not in the habit of turning business away. If you are interested, please give me a call.

I promise you that I'll get you hooked up on a nice golf course, too!

Randy, thanks for the offer! That is extremely nice of you guys. More than likely, I wouldn't mind driving the car out there, and back and to use it as a nice little vacation. I will definitely consider you guys and contact you before I pull the trigger. Thanks again

Never heard anything but bad comments about Hennessey. Wouldn't let them anywhere near any car of mine.

regardless of what Hennessey does or says today - I'll never forget all the craap he served to customers in the past; all without ever saying I'm sorry - I screwed up - my fault
.
Sure he's eager to say "that was all in the past... and everyone was taken care of eventually."

I don't equate "taking care of" to those having to settle out of court for pennys on the dollars owed.

I've been down the same road as you, decision wise-H/C vs SC. 3 years ago I did the full NA route, doing my own install, and today I have a huge box full of A&A Vortech parts waiting to install. I have to redo my cam, the FAST is basically irrelevant, and the EWP will have to go, along with the UD pulley. I love having a lumpy cam, but performance-wise, the Vortech is going to kick it's ***, and be more driveable in the bargain. Just something to think about.

Thanks, I agree, it is a toss up for me. I have no use for more power on the street than what I have. I have owned a heads/sc mustang that ws as fast or faster then my car. I would like to have a car that traps low/mid 120's and is fun to drive. Both should get me there, as I am trapping 117 right now.

I have sent an email to Tyler at Hennessey, and with a link to this thread. I would like to see a public reply.

I have had a dyno tune with England Green, had work done GForce, and had Henderson Performance in New Braunfels do quite a bit of work on my car last week. Jason/Stephen at EG, and Robert/Mike at Gforce, and Corey at Hendeson would step up. Hopefully, these guys will step up and give us a reply.

Say what you will about Hennessey's past, I don't really see a huge problem with their response. I understand you are hurt that your car and intended mods don't seem "expensive" enough for their shop, but you received a professional reply and should have just left it as that.

I'd much rather have a shop respond and say "we're too busy to get to your car" then to take on too much work and experience long delays, poor service, rushed worksmanship, etc. Also, the fact that you received an e-mail response is impressive, you'd be amazed how many shops won't even write you back.

Do you get this defensive when a girl says you're not her type?
