Default Battery tender

What type should I look for for 6 month storage, and where do I find it ?
Thanks.

I have one that costed $30 or 40 bucks. It does great. It kept my battery in my race car charged for 2 years without starting it once. Just plug in and forget about it.

I don't know what model mine is, but you can find them in almost any motorcycle shop. Mine is just like a 2mA trickle with a LED light on the part you plug in.

BATTERY TENDER PLUS @ 1.25amp by DELTRAN CORPORATION. It can usually be found at PEPBOYS or most motorcycle shops. It's also available at site supporting vendor SOUTHERN CAR PARTS...

http://www.southerncarparts.com/adva...r+plus&x=0&y=0

CTEK is a higher tech float maintenance charger. You can buy them from site supporting vendors CCA or SOUTHERN CAR PARTS...

http://www.southerncarparts.com/adva...s=ctek&x=0&y=0

http://www.customcorvetteaccessories...rycharger.html

Personally, I'd stay away from anything sold by HARBOR FREIGHT or found at WALMART, but it's your car...

I've used many over the years and feel the CTEK is the best. Excellent quality.

Fleet Farm and Sears both sell maintainers for about half, I believe, of what you'll pay for a Battery Tender. Just make sure you buy a maintainer and not a trickle charger. I've been running the Fleet Farm versions (Shumachers, I think)for several years on the Corvette, boat and lawn mower batteries. They work great.

Another vote for the CTEK, I love mine. As much as one can love a battery charger anyway. It comes with a sexy storage pouch too if ya need that little something extra to help make your decision.

I prefer the Schumacher brand of battery tender. Check out their web page for current information on different types and applications. I have several of them hooked up to lawnmowers, tractors, motorcycles, pickup truck, daughters car and my '01Z. All are the digital, floating 1.5ma tenders.

I just bought a Battery Tender Plus 12Volt / 1.25 Amp from a place called
Pacific Battery Systems Ltd. (www.PacificBattery.com).
It cost me $46.90 shipped. I always thought this brand was rated one of the best for storing your car/bike/boat/ATV, etc. Includes a 10 year warranty too!

I had one of those inexpensive float chargers a few years ago, and it was not reliable for what ever reason. By the way, AAA offers this same Battery Tender Plus to it's members for $56.00 plus shipping.

you can spend just about anything you can imagine for a battery tender type unit. i bought mine at the local pep boys for about $25.00 and it has performed flawlessly for the past almost 4 year. i use it on my 78 pace car with doesn't see "regular" use as far as being driven for shows or cruises during any one given month. it may only get started once during a month, and the unit has performed great. on the other hand you can probably spend upwards of $100 and get the same results for a name brand type unit. it all depends on what you what to spend. in my opinion the results are the same.
