Vibration through stick shift--ideas?
I think I got transmission or some related problem.
I now feel a vibration coming through my stick shift, mainly when I have the clutch pressed in. I also heard some banging coming from underneath the car. Any ideas what the problem could be?

If the feel of the vibration changes when the clutch pedal is pushed in I would suspect the problem might be in the clutch & flywheel assembly??? A tramsmission problem would be more probable if there were noises when the car is moving in gear or when you are changing gears. I just went through changing a clutch assembly because the ring gear seperated from the flywheel and while it didn't break and cause other problems changing it was a major job that I left to a very good shop.
Whatever the problem is it's best to have a good shop diagnose it before something blows and expands the problem to include more repairs.
