Default Need some info

I am in the market for an audio upgrade to get touchscreen navigation, now I have an alpine 9861 that a co-worker is ready to buy because of xm/cirrus feature. My de-lima is that I want double-din touch screen but the alpine dealer in my area is telling me that for a c5 no double din (wide faced) system will work in c5 because those units are too long. So Im being directed toward the alpine iva-d106 flip out that to me does not look as slick, but I need functionality. Can the forum tell me what and why I should go either way.

There is a vendor on here that will alter your bezel for a DD unit, I believe it is Dennis (C5 bearsfan)
And they look fantastic.

when I purchased my new to me '03 QuickSilver 50th, it already had a high-dollar "Eclipse" that has nav/eq/sat-radio/dvd/cd and free cigars of all things. Anyway,,,,, In it's normally closed position it is retracted into the dash and completely hidden. When I push the magic button, no not the one on my wife, the one on the "Eclipse". Anyway, it is pushed out from the dash and then rotates 90 degrees and raises up to a full touch screen.

I can tell the thing is complicated and was obviously 'professionally' installed. But it is kinda Kool. I still have not learned what all the gizmos are and do. But is is fun to play with while texting while driving while in traffic while eating a burger and enjoying a stogie.

There is a point in there somewhere, but it got lost.

Mr Bill what i'm concerned with is does the bezel compensate for the length of the unit. I have seen these advertisements for modified bezels, but what about brackets behind stereo.

Honestly, I really do not know. I have not taken it apart yet. As I mentioned it was obviously professionally installed so I cannot tell by looking at it. Nothing looks out of place, if that helps.

Lumpdaddy and Mr. Bill. I apologize. Me thinks I mistakenly interjected into your conversation. Also the 'W' in my handle 'wcdaniel' stands for 'William' and I get called "Mr Bill" all the time. So I had an old-typers moment. My bad. I am too poor to pay attention.

What is funny, if anyone had not said a word, I would have set there and kept the conversation going by myself. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
