Default Amsoil Differential Fluid Change

Do I need to add friction modifier to Amsoil Severe Gear SAE 75W-90 Synthetic Extreme Pressure Lubricant? '04 C5 Z06, 85K, no chatter or issues but drain plugs appear that there has been no change. I read some that add modifier and others who do not. The bottle says "If limited slip chatter occurs, add AMSOIL Slip-Lock additive."

If that's the case and I have no chatter, I may pass and take it to
100k and go factory. Also have plan to drop tranny fluid and go Amsoil, hear that improves smoothness.

Appreciate opinions.

I just chaanged mine with Mobil 1 syn. Look for the letters L S on the bottle, that means it has the additive . If not then you will probably have to add it. Diff takes aprox. 1.7 -1.8 QT.total. Be careful not to over fill. Or it will blow out the vent on top & appear to be leaking.

The Amsoil has a little in the sever gear. You would only add it if you had some chatter afterwards. I just swapped out to Amsoil Sever gear EP in my 4th c5. If it were low mls I would add 1 bottle. Some c6's need two. I suspect you will be fine w/ just the fluid. I just did my trans also and was advised to use the Amsoil Torque drive because it doesn't degrade w/ heat and has a high shear. Very smooth no issues, I used to use their ATF.

Thanks for the info. I'm planning of changing my trans at the same time with Torque Drive.

I really appreciate your comments--think I'll go with it.

You'll need one gallon of the Torque Drive and you'll have a little left over. And 2 qts. of sever gear I always buy three in case I have to drain some out to add the limited slip afterwards then I can top off. When doing the rear diff. fill till it overflows then let it drip out don't put in the fill plug. I then take a syringe and pull some out to just below the fill hole about a 1/8 inch. The reason has been found to prevent pressure from when it gets hot and expands and prevents the blow off from the vent and also pushing the fluid past a weak seal under pressure. I also thought I had the dreaded driver side seal leak and was advised to see if i was overfilled. I swapped my fluid and I was overfilled. Did the above and leak was gone. Good luck. The trans fill till it overflows and your done, don't forget to plug back in the trans temp sensor.
