What you are about to look at is the bottom of the front passenger side quarter panel (the 1 with the side "vents"). As you can see its cracked where a screw is supposed to hold it secure. Right now the panel looks fine but I dont like the idea of it having this crack. Its easy to move with your hand without the screw holding in.

What do you guys suggest I do?

*Sorry for the blurry picture, camera cannot zoom in to something so close.

Bigger washer might hold it enough that it doesn't move.

How about drilling a new hole beside it and securing it with a metal screw...it makes it's own thread, so just drill the hole and screw tight. Indy

I'd take out the screw, Sand all parts of the fender where it's broken. Wear latex gloves, Use some strong Epoxy the prices back together after drilling some extra small holes IE:1/16 holes in the good part of the panel and once dried and sanded, paint and put a new screw with a slightly larger washer, and screw back together. I had something like that on my C-4 front fender and it's been holding tight for the last five years. So . .

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Killain, what is the purpose of drilling ~1/16 holes? I like your idea but I don't follow on the drilling part.

Looks like something came up off the road and WHACKED it!

You might try a larger washer or try to custom fab a rectangular washer to cover more area and paint it RED!

Thanks,Matt

I had this same issue on my passenger side as well. I drilled a new hole and put a bolt through there. Have had no problem!

Egads I didn't know this was so common. Same thing happened on my passenger side. I took a 1/2" X 2" metal strap and screwed one end to the panel, pulled it tight and screwed the other end to the frame. Looks good as new.

this damage is consistent with failure to use proper jack pads to lift the car. Count on majority of service facilities, especially smaller ones, to be unfamiliar with how to lift a C-5. Don't use jack pads, guarantee the quarters and side panels will be cracked.

Thanks for all the help guys. I took my car in to a well known corvette body shop in my area (the guy has been restoring classic corvettes for years, as well as doing accident repairs for any gen corvette) and he told me to either have him fix the panel professionally or that I'd be just as well off buying an over-sized washer as suggested earlier. I will just do the washer trick in the intern. So again I say, thanks for all the help.

Same here.
Wait until a nice hot day to pull the fender in tight.

Previous owner frequented automated car washes.
