[Z06] Anyone pay $130 for Alignment after they Lower
The Tech and I went for a ride. The pull (drift) to the left is less noticeable in town, so we went out to the highway for a ride and he saw it for himself. I asked him about having a full tank of gas and me in the car when he redoes the alignment and he said ok. We go back and had to wait for the alignment rack. I'm waiting a while and he comes out and give me the keys and say you are good to go. He said that he had another tech who is about my size sit in the car while he did the alignment. He adjusted to over to the right within spec. He said if you still have the problem, the tires must be starting to wear bad. I told him that is was not that bad when I brought it in I just wanted to get it checked. He said it was way out when I brought it in and thats why he thought I brought it in. So it is much better now, still drifts a hair to the left on the highway but it is no problem. So I'll just keep my eyes on the tires. I hope to get the full life out of them??
Is it still possible to switch front tires from left to right to see if either tire is bad?
I had it done at a Chevy dealership here in the Atlanta area. I called them back and went thru all the BS: The service advisor said that the tech says that it is to GM specs, It will not wear your tires uneven.
Finally they said that the Tech will ride with me in the car on monday and I can show him that it is not right.
Out of the 16 things that they check, 4 of them are not within spec.(in yellow) They didn't get a reading of before the setting where changed either. I wish they did so that I could see what kind of adjustments they made.

I'm sorry you had to come back to make adjustments to your car that was not my desire as you can see from the sheet your car was in spec. as per out aligment mechaine the reason the sepc on the sheet is not correct for your car is bnecause we have not gotten the updated soft wear if we had you would not have seen anything out of spec. I just happen to know the Z06 spec so am able to adjust for it. If you remember when we went around for the road test around the dealer we where unable to feel any kind of drifty I don if nessary take every car out onto the high way I do not want people to think we go on fun rides with their cars so when I finished the first time and drove the car I din not feel any problem as you did during our local drive so we returned the car to you. When we went on the highway we did expearance some drift to the left so we went bac and I redid the aligment increasing the caster on the leaf side to help counter the drift. All Corvettes are sentive to drifting because of it's wide low profile tires one of the reasons for goint to the narrior front tires was to help reduce this and it does. Not every tire rolls the same and there is a chance that one of your tires may have a higher resistance to rolling then the other. I do try my best to see to it that all of my customers are happy and get their cars fixed the first time I am deeply sorry you had to come back but I did do my best to to try to do that the first time and again from the spec sheet you and everyone else out there can see I did do it as it should have been done so for putting it out there I do thank you. Please do keep me posted I do cars how the car is working.

I took my Z06 to him after 3000 miles on the odo when I noticed excessive outside tire wear. I wore out 3/32 more on the outside. This after having the dealer do a alignment at 600 miles on the odo. I should have gone to my mechanic in the first place even though the dealer alignment was free. The dealer put to much toe in on the rear!
Shop around and check alignment often.
