Buying stock LS6 heads is fine... but you might as well get a more robust cam.

Plenty of choices that sound smooth, but make more power than factory.

How about selling a LS6 intake and stock LS1 throttle body? Anyone know what they would go for?

With stock reliability?

Your car is a 2004 so it should already have an LS6 intake manifold. Not sure about the TB.

Exactly what I'm looking for Alex, stock reliability.

As for the LS6 intake, there's a ported one I was looking at and was wondering what mine would sell for if I bought that one.

I paid $200.00 for a new LS6 cam and $400.00 for a set of LS6 heads with a few thousand miles on them, they also came with a set of patriot dual springs.

Now that you started this thread, I'm interested in the same thing. Well, I've been interested in upgrading to the LS6 stuff but, I figured it was more expensive, even used. I'm trying to stay with stock parts too for the same reason... reliability.

I almost had a new set of LS6 heads and cam last week for $800 but I didn't get a chance to reply fast enough and they sold to another member. I'll keep my eye out for another set

I understand you wanting to stay with stock stuff for the reliability aspect of it. Definitely get yourself the 243 heads stock but I know I sound like a broken record but if you're going to pay for/go through all that labor you can get away with a slightly bigger cam without losing drive ability and it'll give you even more fun for the about the same $. Get it tuned (which you're going to have to do anyway) by someone reputable and enjoy close to the same fuel economy and it'll be reliable and safe as hell. Also, you'll want to buy valve springs because of the issues with the stockers anyway so why not go this route? You already have an LS6 intake and the throttle body's are the same...

Worth it IMO. Just some food for thought!

I would probably be having ECS do the installation and tune

Default Just trying to stop future regret.

I've got an LS6.... I can't imagine going through the hassle and expense to use the stock LS6 cam.

You'll wish you went bigger. Trust me, you ca go much bigger on cam and still drive and sound like stock.

perhaps a 220/224 .588 .588 114 LSA
or maybe 224/228 .600 .600 114 LSA

^ Those aren't big cams.. Yet will make great power.

I put stock 243 heads on my car, upgraded springs. I also put in a little cam, and no I don't have the specs.
It has been in there for 30 thousand now, and works fine.
