All, I know a larger wheel is required for this set up on a C5. I've read as much as possible and the set up seems to get mixed reviews as far as performance is concerned. Yes, it looks great, but it must perform to be worth it. Curious how many have done this and what your opinion is over the stock c5 set up. I can't imagine how it couldn't make a huge difference....
All the reveiws brag about how great the C6Z's brakes are.....
I did the C6 Z06 brakes with stainless lines on my car and am very happy. I haven't done any track days yet, but the car performs far better during aggressive street driving. Zero fade when attacking the back roads and give much more confidence above 100mph.
Here's a couple of pics: (I have since painted my centers black to cover the rust)
I did quite a bit of research, and from what I read, it seems that the C6Z brake package is good for looks, but not that great on performance. I ended up going with a Stoptech ST60/ST40 kit on my car. However, the C6Z brakes are about a third the price, and are more than adequate for street driving. Depends what you want
that's the tough part about this question. I personally have never had an issue with the stock units, but then again, I've never tracked the car. You can get a full c6Z set up for about $1800. The guys that do experience fade with these brakes must beat the living crap out of them. I've never read one review (automotic mag) regarding Z06 brakes that didn't praise them.
I'm probably going to upgrade to OEM Z06 wheels / tires sizes (yes I know they stick out a little, but saw a pic of the set up and they still look awesome), then bump up the Brakes.
I was actually just thinking about this yesterday. Can someone post up some pics of a C6Z kit on a C5 with a 19" wheel up front? I would be thinking about it behind a 505A if I did it.

Lance, it won't fit behind the 505a's. Already tried unfortunately.
C5 brakes already happily engage the anti lock system, and don't fade in any normal street driving. That is all ANY brake system could do. Its not an upgrade.............maybe a side-grade.

Agreed....But they sure do fill in the gaps when you go to bigger wheels!
I bougth new 18/19 wheels and then started looking at bigger brakes. Ultmately went with C6Z51 brakes due to front fitment issues. I'm satisfied with the performance and appearance but, a ton more brake dust to clean off the wheels. Just another option to consider if your already invested in wheels.
"we can build a special configuration that will clear the c6z06brakes,
it would be a 9.5" front with 1" lip and 11" rear with 2" lip (as opposed to 10" wide front and 11.5" wide rears with 2" and 3" deep lip)"

There were two reasons I decided to go ahead with this "upgrade." First I wanted to change my wheels in the first place, and have 18's all around for optimal handling.
Second for a 6 piston front, 4 piston rear brake set up the cost was in the range of $5,000.00-$7,000.00. I did not have the money to put down that much for brakes. So I had to answer the peformance question to myself. I figured for my application the C6Z06 brakes will work for me.. I am not running the 24 hours of Le Mans or tracking my car every weekend. So for less than half the price of the other big brake kits around, I went with the C6Z06 brakes. Are they as good as Brembo or stop tech, AP racing, no they are not... but if you have the money to spend on those kits go for it, most people dont......
I will say this much, they have saved me more than a number of times, and i drive pretty hard, not to mention where I live there are lots of crazies out there driving, so I am glad I have them. Plus these brakes are strong enough to suck the front of my car down if I slam on them. So hope this helped someone find thier answer.
The only real negative issues seem to be the high cost of pads when used in events. But in reality if you use the brakes the way it was intended for street and occasional track event it is a nice upgrade in looks and function. If your going to be doing track days a dozen or more times a season then a set of Stoptechs or similiar is needed. On the other hand C5 brakes with a killer set of pads stainless steel lines is a good set up as well.
