Well, I have been waiting to have my new clutch installed, replace and also replace the torque tube bushing and decided to bite the bullet and have it done this week. Well, the car wouldn't start(battery) so I jumped it and it the starter broke in half breaking one of the mounting tabs to the block off.
My shop is looking at options to repair, however I thought I would ask if you guys might have any suggestions. Welding aluminum is never easy so I am not sure how that will work, and they are looking into whether or not there will be enough material to machine the starter in place....
I really don't like the idea of a new block and if I have to spend that much, I would rather do a ton of upgrading.
What suggestions do you have??? I am open to anything at this point, including a new engine. Might as well upgrade right?
Aluminum can be welded. Yes it is a difficult process and the person doing it must know what he/she is doing. I think I would look into that before I went out buying a new block.
