I found a 97 automatic coupe with 47k miles on it near me. Seems nice enough, the owner says:
"On the passenger inside door panel the vinyl has come loose in one spot and looks uneven, there is a small 1" crack in the plastic around the shifter, and it has normal small stone chips."
Other than that, he says it's in great condition. I've been looking at C5s, but I'm not as educated as I should be. Should I avoid the early C5 and go for a later model? Do these cars have issues I should look for?
I'd avoid a 97. Too many "early car" issues. Later cars had better TPS monitors, better ABS/TCS systems, better intakes, and the list goes on. At least pull the codes from the one your looking at to see if it's got a lot of electrical issues. Make sure the HVAC and all the other electrics work CORRECTLY.
