[Z06] Code for ZO6
Other ways to spot a Z06:
Obviously, if it's a fixed roof coupe made after 99, it's a Z06. But of course someone could in theory pay to have that changed... OK... So... Look for the 8.4mm front windshield. On the bottom passenger side of the front windshield it will say the thickness of the windshield. I'm pretty sure that the Z06's have 8.4mm.
The next thing is the antenna. Unless it was changed by the previous owner, Z06's came with fixed-mast antennas, not automatic antennas.
If there's a keyhole on the passenger door, it's not a 2001+. They stopped putting the key lock on the passenger side door in 2001. So all FRCs with a keyed lock on the passenger side are 99's.
There's the obvious stuff like the side and front scoops/grills, the red fuel rail covers, MUST be a 6-speed, etc...
01 Z06's didn't come with the HUD so if it's an 01 with a HUD, it was put it by an owner, or it's an 01 converted to a FRC.
The Z06s don't have a telescoping steering wheel. So if the wheel telescopes, it's not a Z06.
The Z06's all came with red calipers. The brakes are all the same between all the trims of Corvette, except the Z06's red calipers. Aside from that, they're the same.
Z06's have larger tailpipe tips. I believe 3" but I could be wrong about that. The coupe/vert has smaller oval shaped tips while the Z06 has larger circular tips.
The gauges have a black light (That's right... BLACK light) so they light up purple-ish which looks very cool at night. The tach also has a Z06 on it as do the seats.
If you go through the gauges on the DIC, you should NOT see the tire pressure read-outs. I don't know if this was only Z06s, but I've seen the option in coupes, but never in Z06s.
The Z06's all had a fixed suspension, not the ride-adjustable shocks. If you have a ride adjustment dial on the center console, it's not a Z06.
If all else fails, just do a carfax on the VIN, it will say it is a Z06.
Oh, and good luck!

There was a 2000 FRC also that is not a Z06.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Well the car is gone. : ( They tried to pull a fast one on me. They said it was there over the phone and then tried to persuade me on a regular hatch back C5 once I arrived. They said it was just as nice, psssssh YEAH RIGHT! So I told them nicely to get lost and I left.

Sucks, I was so close. I'm thinking of going for a fixed roof coupe if I can't seem to find another C5Z, My ballpark range is 18K, I'm in school still so I don't want a loan. Maybe getting a FRC is a good way to break into vettes (this will be my first) and then after school I can get the big bad ZO6. God I want a ZO6 tho.

Damn. I knew I missed something...

Do it right the first time and get what you really want. You don't want that "still not a z06" thing going around in your head. I know i would be that way even if i had a 900rwhp FRC.
Also despite what people say you would spend a pretty good amount on an FRC to get it to z06 specs or better and you will be up and over 18k by the time it's done. It would be cheaper still to just start out with a Z06.
Either way, only the DMC 12's came with the flux capacitor standard... Which was required because those cars were so slow they needed time travel to get somewhere on time.
