I just had my car aligned and my new wheels/tires mounted and balanced.
Shortly after, maybe about 2 weeks after I started to notice a vibration from the front driver wheel area seems like.
I had them recheck the mounting/balancing and said it was good.
Is it possible that I have a bent wheel inside the tire and they couldn't tell? The vibration gets annoying at 80 but I can feel it even at 40 it's just not smooth like it used to be, the steering wheel doesn't really shake but I can feel it in my seat.
Any clues?
Update, I had a friend check the car and he says that my shock is leaking on that wheel and the other shocks are fine. Could a leaking or blown shock cause this type of problem for me?
could warped rotors make this happen or a messed up rotor?
I really feel this on deceleration a lot from the front driver side
I had it done at goodyear and it has a 1 year warranty
Do you think I hit a pothole or something and it threw the alignment off?
I do remember hitting some potholes...the wheel and all is lined up just perfect and it doesnt drift at all if I let go its dead on
Wheel alignment does not cause vibrations, only uneven tire wear and steering problems. If you are feeling it in your floorboard(chassis) it is the rear wheels/tires/bearings or axle shafts most likely. One of the road force balancers may help this. Also have them check the run out of the wheels and tires when they do it.
Road force balance the tire. Matter of fact I would have all four road force balance. If a tire doesn't balance on road force with a minimum of weight, it should be spun and rebalanced.

YES! It can, this happened on another car I own just recently. Strut was blown leaking oil/fluid and it caused all sorts of noise and vibration and at higher speeds too
Talk to Gene Cully and get a set of C6 Z06 shocks and enjoy the ride - uhmm you might need to have it aligned after new shock though - Sorry!

Yes. Shocks are designed to keep the tire on the road. If the seal is blown the shock is not doing it's job.
IF done properly---Measures the imperfections in the wheel, and the imperfections in the tire, and sets them so that they offset one another. Most of my techs are NOT trained to use the 9700, even though I have one at my store. Only my senior techs receive training of that machine. To do it right- is a time consuming process, but it is the only way I will balance any tire that goes on my personal vehicle.
Rebelheart is correct. Alignment will not cause vibration, only pull and abnormal tire wear.
Is the vibration progressive (does it get increasingly worse with speed)--- or is it intermittent (seeming to come and go at certain speeds)
Also- Do you feel it in the steering wheel or in the seat most.
Jetjock is correct as well. If the shock is leaking-it is blown. Replace it. If the prob continues, my suspicion would be the balance.

Do you think the people at goodyear are trained to use the hunter machine??
The vibration is progressive, I can feel it at 5mph and more at 80. My shifter shakes and my headrest does too, I can also feel it in the steering wheel but not terribly it doesnt shake.
I dont know but it's def. from the front driver side wheel area and my shock is blown there they said
Also it may just be that Im thinking it's the shock, but I'm feeling the car going up and down on the highway and side to side.
Something is def. not smooth
The blown shock theory is sound but even then, something needs to start such a vibration. I also agree with having the "runout" checked. I think this is where the bead is not seated evenly and if you spin the tire and look at the tread, it will vary from side to side by a measureable amount.
Or, you could have a defective tire from the factory that is delaminating for some reason. In other words, the tread is breaking loose from the cord (in simple terms) in one area. It does happen, but not commonly with new tires.
Start with these before looking at the wheel, especially since it was fine before work was done.
When you find out , please let us know.....we love a good mystery solved.
Chased a similar problem for months. Road Force Balane, spacers for wheels (aftermarket) different type of weights (all on inside of the wheel area for visibility purposes) and finally due to dynamic forces of the wide wheels, I had the weights placed on the far inside and outside of the wheels and the problems were solved.
