Default Another tire question

Alright, I've been searching for the last couple of days but I havn't quite found what I've been looking for. I just put Hankook Ventus R-s2 315/30/18's on the rear of the z06 and still have the stock goodyears up front, 265/40/17. The question that I have now is which tires should I go with up front inorder to best match the backs? Also with the current set up is screwing up the active handleing even when I have it turned off. Is this normal?
Thanks in advance for all of the help

Well CT; To your second problem first. Traction control likes the rear tires to be larger in circumference/diameter by .500 or 1/2 inch minimum. Your rears are actually larger in diameter than the fronts, BUT only by 1/10" 0r .100 inches . 647mm/25.5 inches for the rears and 644mm/ 25.4 inches on the front.

So first question seems simple enough buy the Hankook Ventus V12 255/40-17 as this is the same mfg'er and the diameter is 25.00 and should be the perfect.

I'd look at a 35 aspect ratio size on the fronts, whatever brand you choose.

But I don't see a Kankook as having a wide enough 17" tire to have a 35% side wall aspect.

I found those on the tirerack of a good price so those are what I'm probably going to go with. But, I've seen on here that some guys are going with a 275/40 up front and 315/30 in the rear with no AH issues... how does that work?
Thanks again,
CT

Check out my post about choosing correct sized tires to maintain factory stagger, and so you don't have Traction Control/Active Handling issues.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-g...ah-issues.html

With your rear tire choice your reduced your rear Circumference by 50mm (diameter by 16mm)

You need to reduce your front tire about the same to compensate for the change in your rear.

A 275/35/17 will get you close (reduced Circumference by 63mm (diameter by 20mm)
A 285/35/17 will get you close (reduced Circumference by 38mm (diameter by 12mm)

I can't find anything else close....

Good luck !

Default What are your priorities.........

You can throw tire widths and aspects all over the place but what are yor priorities? You have staggered rim and tires sizes and traction control and tire patch as priorities.

275/40-17 gets you 25.7 inches diameter (625 mm circumference)
315/30-18 gets you 25.5inches diameter (647 mm circumference).

Your rear tire have to be at least 1/2 inches LARGER diameter than the fronts.

As I see it you have two options; change the wheel size on the fronts or rears, or go with a different tire mgf'er that has both size front and rears that meet your needs.

For me to get what I want I went the 18x9.5 with 275/35-18 front and 19x10 with 305/30-19 rear ( Hankook Ventus K110). This get me with in 1.5% of speedo calibration, .600 inch larger diameter rear tire and a larger contact patch then OEM.
