I have Sylvania 9006/9005 silverstars bulbs in my 2003, but I was wondering if any of you all have ever tried PIAA bulbs? The 'Silverstars don't have a very long life, but will put out 4000k. They arn't cheap, and then there's a wattage, which concerns me as I assume higher watts = greater heat output, and I don't want to melt the bulb socket. I know HID is the best lighting, but i'd like to use a simple replacement bulbs but something with better lighting, Gettting up in my years and night-time driving isn't as sharp as it once was.
The PIAA website gives some information, but I'm worried about installing new PIAA bulbs and having a melting pot halfway home.
PIAA are among the most expensive halogen bulbs i know of. IMO your best bulb-swap replacement would be higher wattage 9006 and 9005 bulbs with clear glass. This will give you the most output without going HID. Silverstar are a decent upgrade, but their blue tinted glass takes away from output.

I know exactly what you mean. Sylvania make a 'Xtraision' bulbs which put out 3400K, but they last 375 hours, as compared to the silverstars only last about 125 hours. The stock bulbs will last 450 hours i think. There are so many different bulbs it's confusing. And GE makes replacement bulbs, but they don't get very good reviews from past users. I don't know?
