My '02 Z is a "garage queen" - never sees rain but after only 9k mi. the hood liner looks like all the others, one small corner of the "gauze" covering coming loose, etc. I simply won't spend big bucks on a liner that can't be kept super sano and if you drive a car at all, sooner or later it will need to be cleaned. I keep my engine compartment very clean & stock looking - would rather spend bucks on "go" than "show" but both would be nice. Would like to add a logo on a liner but that seems pointless on a stock liner. Did I have a bad dream or have I seen pics. of stainless liners? Any ideas would be welcomed.

I think I've seen some stainless panels that can be affixed to the hood - kind of looks like a bunch of mirrors.
As far as painted ones go, you might want to check the forum member PaulaH - she does custom painting and may put some kind of protective coating on her work to keep it from getting messed up.
I know Southern Car Parts sells the chrome/stainless steel kit for the hood. Paula does great work, but not cheap. Like stated in the other post, check with her to see if she sprays a protective coating over it. Also one other option is remove the insulator blanket completely, and have the underside of the hood painted and clear coated, just like the body. I have seen a few Vette’s like that.
