Ok so I figured I would go ahead and start another one for this year. I had some free time and figured I would take on the underside of the trunk. So flat black from the factory looks ok...but...thought this might be a little better.

Base/clear

Then figured lets make some inserts. This is just cardboard, double thick. Then covered with black felt.

How to get them to stay...well after some much thinking and testing the double sided tape. It does stick to the felt pretty well. so...thats the way I went. We'll see what happens in time.

Whats your thoughts?

Looks good.

i would advise replacing the inserts with carpet or vinyl wrapped MDF for a more perminant and sturdy solution. You could use the cardboard as a template saving yourself a LOT of sanding/cutting time.

As a mounting solution, you could use velcro on the top to make them removeable or double sided tape to make them semi perminant.

Looks great! Now what? It's only November, what are you going to do for December, January, February and March? It's a long winter.

I see what you mean. This isn't the normal 1/8" thick cardboard. This is 1/4" thick. And it's light weight. And it is sturdy.

As far as mounting we'll see if this double sided tape works permanently or not. It certainly is doing the trick thus far.

Thanks

Well you'll just have to keep an eye on whats next. Honestly I'm not sure. I'd like to get a carravaggio spoiler and a set of wheels and tires 18's all around. 12 wide in rear. and black. I'm on the lookout atleast for something along those lines on wheels.

Thanks to all for compliments and suggestions.

Default Flush Mount tail lights

Today I figured it was time to do this...went to home depot and $9.44 later.

8- 1" Nylon Spacers
8- 2" panhead screws
1- 10ft long rubber foam weatherseal

Cut 1/4" off two of the 1" nylon spacers for the corner screws.

And before bolting them up I stuck the screws in a cardboard box and hit the heads with some black rattle can I had.

Also take a small straight screw driver, wrap the head in 3m tape. This helps poke the weatherseal in w/o scratching paint.

Before:

After:

And a helpful hint, take some 3m tape, tape the nylon spacers in place so you're not fighing with them.

I noticed that when I took the shot. It's the foam weatherseal. It must be the flash b/c it's all black looking at it.

You can see in the final shot, the close up, I had the flash off to show the tape on the nylon and you can see the light next to it was already flushed and it's all black.
