You should have no problem running your stock gearing. I have seen plenty of A4 guys drop in the M6 3.42 rear end with no issues, so it should be the same the other way around. What is your rear end ratio? With the Z06 M12 trans and your A4 gearing you will most likely end up somewhere in the ballpark of final ratios close to standard MN6 3.42 guys as the M12 Z06 trans has the more aggressive gearing. Hope this help!
FWIW, if you have the 2.73's or whatever it is, I would heavily considering a gear swap, should be fine with the 3.15's and M12

2.73's would be a bit of a dog,,,not a big difference for the 3.15's. don't remember the difference but I know the M12 has a bit lower ratio than the M6,,so should be the rough equivalent of a standard coup with M6 and 3.42's
I think it would be possible, however the ratios are quite different from the A4 to the M6/M12.
I often wish I had 4.11 gears in my Vette which I never track. I can't remember the last time I wanted to go 190 MPH, and would rather have a lower top end, with more torque.
2.72 rear end would be a pretty big step in the wrong direction.
A friend of mine did an M6 swap on a trans am with a 3.23 rear, in 6th gear at 65 mph it only turns 1,000 rpm! In short if you keep the 3:15 rear you will get super mpg!
