-Removed both seats from the car and completely tore them down to the frames.
-Did the rocking seat fix on all 4 seat tracks
-placed a square of soft rubber mat over the springs and wires of the seats
- I noticed that the outside drivers back bolster foam was a just a little damaged from wear, so I swapped the back foams between the driver and passenger seats. Now the bolster foam with a little wear is the inside bolster on the passenger side and will be protested from further damage.
- reassmebled the passenger seat and reinstalled it in the car.
I'm still waiting for the new drivers seat bottom foam to complete the drivers seat. I'm really looking forward to the completed results.
I actually find the interior very nicely done...it's sporty and fits in well with the contours of the exterior. I never understand why people don't like it. Even quality wise I never had any problems except with the seats. Indy
I actually like my seats. As someone who has had three lower back surgeries, my back is happy in my C5 Sport seats.
I've been looking at a lot of C5s and C6s in the last month and I actually prefer the seats on the C5s over the C6s. The only thing I like better about the C6 seats are the optional seat heaters.

I agree that GM could have done better when it comes to the seats. Sadly they didn't - You might want to consider getting an aftermarket seat if you really want something that will last.
after only 28K in my 02 the drivers seat bottom is shot.
The foam is falling apart and no longer supportive. The problem stems mainly from the fact GM did not place any burlap over the seat springs and just slapped the foams directly over the metal springs/wires. As a reslt, in short time the wires cut their way through the foam, destroying it.
I bought mine with only 21K and the seat was already shot. It also was "rocking". After two years I put the new seat foam, burlap over the springs and fixed the rocking. WOW! It's like a new car.

It looks like I'm walking in your footsteps. Hopefully it lasts longer this way with the burlap (or rubber mat) between the foam and the springs.
If you noticed on the seat backs the fiberglass seat shell is very sharp, that's what cuts the foam, and leaves the mark on the leather bolsters. I took some tubing (air supply for fish tank) and split it and glued it to the outer edge of the seat. It's been over 2 years and no mark on the bolsters.

I just went out and looked the the fiberglass seatback of the drivers seat I still have torn apart. the bolster edges are knife edged!! Why would GM do that??
I love your aquarium hose idea and am going to do it!
Now this means I have to take the passenger seat out and apart once again and do it to that one as well.

I was also surprised at how sharp the edge was. When I looked at the old foam I could see how that sharp edge cut the bolster foam. Then I matched the mark on the skin and a light went on in my head.... After looking around for something to use I had a roll of tubing for my salt water reef tank and it was soft enough to mold around the curves on the seat. Some acc glue and 15 min later I had both seats done.
Anybody know of someone who rebuilds the seats? Mine arr fine for right now, but I haven't been knowledgeable as to any vendors who rebuild the corvette seats? Thank You !

Do it yourself, I'm not an expert and it did take almost 9 hrs. start to finish but after doing it, almost anyone could do it. I used Vette Essential's directions. http://www.vetteessentials.com/instr...er_change.html
I got new foams from Bryner in Jenkintown ( CCDV club discount, cost +10%)

I agree strongly that it can be done easily yourself. You can even do it in your living room like I did. 4 bolts and the seat comes out - carry it right into the house.
removing the leather and foam requires little effort - a couple zippers, a few plastic push-fasteners and a few hog rings. To reassemble skip the hog rings and use wireties like in the pictures above. It's really fairly simple and I'm astounded by how much some places charge to do it.

The aquarium hose mod is now done - on both my seats. Thanks for the idea!
Great! It was a cost effective solution. For others that re do their seats take a look/ feel at the fiberglass shell on the seat back. you'll see what cuts and marks the seat bolsters.
I just bought a 2000 FRC this summer and it just has the stock seats in it, not the sport seats. I hate them. I feel like I'm going to fall out of them when I go around a corner. When I get out of my C6 and get in the C5 it just makes it worse. I'm thinking of buying the Corbeau seats as well. I've talked to a couple people on the forum that love theirs and they are reasonably priced. The Caravaggios are nice too but they cost as much as the car.
