OK, I have a serious question..
Why would you want to go through all this trouble for a car that isn't a collector car, exotic car or a car that is worth 250,000? To me it seems strange to do this to a car that have so many on the street, It is a nice car, But it isn't rare. I have never seen or heard of anyone doing this to a Mercedes or some of the higher priced cars.
Looking for some good reasoning.
Thanks.
Mr.Bill

I understand completely - just a difference in how people take care of their cars. Nothing to do with the cost - I think the correct word would be PRIDE! Just in case - Pleasure or satisfaction taken in an achievement, possession or association.

I see nothing wrong with a person that wants to take care of his Corvette. It may not be a million dollar car but it is precious to a lot of us just the same. I clean all of my tools before they are put into the toolbox and sweep the garage floor after working on any of the cars even if I haven't finished the project yet. One thing for sure, if you take care of your possessions they will last a lot longer.

I waited 51 years to get my Corvette and it means as much to me as a Ferrari or Lamborghini.
i would think there have to be at least a few really nice days between now and the springtime that would allow you to take the car out and give it some excercise (keep in mind this is coming from someone located in the tropics with little if any "winter" experiences except to be very cold when forced to travel up north for anything during the winter, lol)
There are afew nice days in the winter in Ohio but why would I want to have to pay the price of insurance for 5 months to drive it 2-3 times?
To the op I would love to have one to store my vert in!!

I think the most important part of the "reasoning" would be, ......because he want's to. I don't think you need to look any further than that.
I think your attaching what it would take for you to do this. He did what he did because he wanted to.

Attaching?
Thats all fine and dandy, Just in my opinion it seemed overkill, It is his car and he can do what he wants as you and I can. I was just looking for a reason, Something better because he wanted to.
Thank You Sir.
Just speaking for myself, I can see why some owners do what they do. I'm just an average guy with an average job. My corvette is my Ferrari or Lamborghini. It's a car I've always dreamed about owning and to me it's not just another car. I by no means baby it to death and at times I drive the wheels off of it. But there's never a day that goes by that I don't walk in my garage and think "that's really mine." To some people it's just a Corvette but to me it's everything I thought it would be and more. I would drive it in that bubble if I could keep the air in it with the 4 holes cut out for the tires.
Good job, smart way of doing it. I have just moved from TX to Missouri and into their winter, "the other woman" is going into storage this weekend. She has never seen snow.
Like a guy who appreciates his toys and takes care of them.
Have you seen mold in one of these or just under plastic laid on a car?
I was thinking of gettng one for the exact opposite reason. Mold needs a damp environment. This bubble has a fan that runs non-stop so it keeps a clean dry environment and protects from dampness and the things it can lead to.
It also prevents any rodents if you have it stored in a pole barn. Keeps dust off, cat off, kids from touching it, etc.. And for less than the cost of winter storage seems like a great idea.
Yes i have seen mold growth on the interior pieces , this one also had a fan , once again its your ride do want you want im just passing along true information that i have seen

Here is a serious reply: Just because he wants to have the car secured with low moisture, not get musty or rusty, dusty, no rodents, no kids, stay away from all the bad environmental issues you have when storing a car especially in the north where there are things like temp changes.
AND you are only talking $3-400.00 or so for the bubble which should last for years.
So don't need to be a special collector car. For a very valuable collector car I hope someone would have indoor climate controlled storage and a valet that polishes and maintains it correctly!

Another guy from the south that don't understand, thats OK. There is a number of people on here that do things I don't understand (exposed headlights, tigershark rear bumper, to name a few) but to each his own. I bought my C5 with 3000 miles on it, just like new and because of how I take care of it it is still like new, still perfect paint and I drive it every weekend in the summer. I worked hard to get it and I have only owned one other (1973). Not that this will be my last one but, I may never sell it. So I am going to keep it nice as long as I can. By the way they salted the hell out of the roads last night. Might not even drive my HHR in it.
Great Idea I would consider one of those storage bags, Yesterday in Pittsburgh, Pa 50 deg in the eve the wind whipped up leaving bridge decks with black ice, this caused a eight car pile up ! How would you like to in your vette for a few last rides before putting it away and have that happen.
