Default Wet ankle

I hate to admit it, but I keep my 2004 C5 Z06 outside at night. It thunderstormed hard last night. This morning, when I backed out of the frivway and started to go forward, a bunch of water drained onto my right ankle.
Any ideas why this happened (other than I shouldn't be keeping my Z06 outside)? Could water have gotten into the vents for the heater?

As for keeping it outside,it's not a big deal. Mine stays outside. It would probably die if it ever got put inside.

On a positive note, it rained very hard last night, but there was no water leakage!

That's weird. I've had my front windshield replaced and I had that problem. I ended up putting clear silacone into the edges of the roof/window gasket and the sides too. My left ankle got wet though. After sealing it, no more problems with the ankle, but it still leaks on the sides. I guess, I'll just have to bite the bullet and spring for all new weather stripping. Car only had like 5 years on it before the seals failed.

This is Bob at Fichtner Chevrolet,

Here is a GM bulletin that may help you out.

Service Information 2004 Chevrolet Corvette | Corvette (VIN Y) Service Manual | Document ID: 1664683
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

#PIC3566: Water Leak On Drivers Side Floor - keywords body carpet cowl odor seam water wet - (May 25, 2005)

Subject: Water Leak On Drivers Side Floor

Models: 1997-2005 Chevrolet Corvette

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.

Condition/Concern:
Some customers may state that there is a water leak on the driver's side of the vehicle or water is dripping on the driver's feet

Recommendation/Instructions:
If, after normal diagnosis, a concern can't be found, remove the windshield wiper arms and front cowl and inspect for proper sealing of the Heads Up Display (HUD) plate that is located on the driver side of the vehicle. The plate is located inside the cowl assembly directly below the spot where the HUD unit (if equipped) would be located. The plate is on all vehicles with or without a HUD assembly.

If this is the area of concern, seal the seam with Medium Body Seam Sealing Compound Urethane, P/N 12378501 (Canadian P/N 10952233) or equivalent.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.

GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See your GM dealer for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.

I had this exact problem on my 03Z. Went to the dealer 7 times to no avail. Fianally a tech came out and said he had just gone to some vette class and he was sure it was the windshield. He said there was a TSB on it too. He said 1 in 4 have this leak. He romoved my windshield and there was a 1/4" hole top driver side behind molding. said it ran down the pillar to under the steering wheel area and pooled and would leak onto my feet when I moved the car. Urathaned in the windshield and never a problem again. Very common, but not always known by dealers that have little experience w/ vettes. I was lucky, as I'm in south Florida and they work on vettes everyday. Good luck
