Magnetic Ride Suspension is RPO F55, previous years was F45 - Real Time Dampening.

Another option related to suspension in 03 (and prior years) was Z51 - Performance Handling Package.

I believe Z51 included stiffer shocks and bigger sway bars.

I like mine enough not to trade or sell. I would not be afraid of the F55. No real reason to believe it will fail, and the ride(s) are great.

F55 in mine works great, the anniversary edition is a faster car because of the color

Default Question ??????

Based on what I have found out - F-45 was the first half of 2003 - the F-55 came in about half way through. When you get ready to replace the F-55 shocks look at around $4,000. I went with another shock and had to work my way with overriding - 80 MPH top speed. Projected life is 8-10 years and according to GM can only be rplaced with F-55 shocks - not true but.................... My correct anniv 2003 had 5300 miles and two of the four shocks were leaking.

I'd love to see the source of that information. The Black Book makes no mention of it and the 1SC package specifies RPO F55. F45 is not listed as an option for 2003.

You are correct, no F45, only F55

Agreed and Dittos! - I love my '03 Anniversary Edition.

It get a lot of looks at car shows (what color is that?, didn't know GM made such a color, etc) but be warned....it NEEDS sunshine to really stand out! In the shade, it's been called Merlot, or plumb. It's a three-step paint process - base coat, tinted mid-coat, then clear coat, making it truly difficult to match (if needed).

Like the comments above, I've see many '03 cars for sale and advertised as Anniversary Editions (AE) because of the badge but the truly AE cars are AE red in color and have a shale dash and interior (all others are black dash with colored seats and carpeting, etc). Also note, the shale interior was used on the '04 Commerative Edition Coupe and Convert but not the Z06 version. See interior here: http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/g...03CH_CR009.jpg

Also, the suspension is nice. It's been proven on the Cadillacs and provides a softer ride option - it works!

Either way, the ride you're considering is the 50th Anniversary year (no problem there), just not an 'Anniversary Edition' car.

Suggestion, take a look around the internet because the '03 I bought with F55, the dude had replaced the rear shocks because of 'leakage'. From what he found out 'after' the replacement is that the F55 shocks are 'designed' to leak a little bit. But I have never confirmed this point.

I have the bill and it is $1,600 for the rear shocks.

However, they are fun as hell to play with and respond very nicely.

These cars had the special Anniversary Red paint, along with the special Shale interiors and a Shale top for the convertibles. These cars also had Champagne colored thinspokes, along with the F55 Magnetic suspension.

There were 4085 coupes and 7547 convertibles, making Anniversary Red the single most popular color in 2003 at 11,632.
That Mag Red colour reminds me of an Italian Chianti bottle of wine!

.....very luscious and full-bodied.............

the way Vettes are meant to be!

IMHO, I think it is a wonderful accent with the '50th' emblem between the speedo and rpm-o-meter. Kinda classy !!!
