I'm in the market for a C5 Z06. And Ive come across a car i really like. Just want to opinions on the pricing of the car.
its a 2003 MY Z06. 24k miles. no mod red. tinted windows, painted 4 point roll bar, looks awesome in the car. Looks like its been lowered a little, my guess is stock bolts. no mods, mint as a car can be. also has 4 brand new pilot sport ps2 tires.
it is through a private used car dealer.
Their asking $25,900 and i was thinking there should be room to wiggle right? KBB has the car from a dealer retail of $25,985. and is the suggested starting price before "dealing"
thanks for any information. Hoping to join the corvette family soon.
roll bar? I have to think this thing was modified and raced. owner probably took all the mods off to sell. I would stay away but that is just my opinion.
good luck with the search
Be very skeptical of that roll bar. Like it was said it was probably put back to stock. Probably has had more than a few passes on her. I'd personally offer $15k or walk.
how these guys can judge a car , without ever seeing it!
I have a roll bar in one of my cars, as the manufacture used my car as a mockup, bar was free! (chrome yet!) so according to you guys my car should be avoided? its low miles all orig, never modded. no not a corvette.
my suggestion, check it over real close, look for recent replacement of parts, or equipment, ( which COULD indicate a race car) ask questions, why (if they were) were parts replaced on a low mi vehicle?
good luck.
You don't usually find a stock car with a roll bar. It requires welding to the frame.
In fact, even hard core modded cars don't pop for a roll bar.
That car has most likely seen a track often enough that the owner saw value in his safety to put one in.... seems VERY odd that a regular street car gets that mod.
Maybe someone here knows the car. its from SCHERTZ, TX . and was sold to someone in orlando jan of last year. Just doesnt seem like it was beat to me. I think the cage looks cool, ive always wanted one in my camaro, but never went through with it. Its the exact car im looking for and its not 1/2 way across the country. I do feel its a little more than i want to spend. thanks for the unput, I'll most likely pass, and try to find one just like it.
How does the exterior of the car look? Has it been repainted? If not, maybe it has been tracked, but if you track car a lot it is extremely difficult to keep the exterior looking great.
Does a roll bar mean the car was heavily modded? No. I have, and know several others that have, otherwise stock Z06's with roll bars. Do we track them? Yes, but they are not not heavily modded.
All that said, I know of 2 (I purchased one) 03 Z06's with 25K to 30K miles that were purchased for less than $25K in the last 2 months. So, if you get comfortable with the roll bar situation, that will give you an idea.

Got to agree with the majority here. The roll bar would be a red flag to me.
