One major way is:

Are they leaking, oil running down them?

Hard hitting on a corner or in a pot hole?

It is rare these shocks go bad, with the amount of miles you have on yours they should still be working great -

Are you having any trouble that leads you to think they are bad? Give examples, that will help us determine what is going on!

If you decide to change them you can go with the C6 Z06 Shock- this is an upgrade that many do with their current set-ups and also install the C6 Z51 Sway Bars!

Thanks,Matt

no problems at all ,no leaks, rides like a dream. I was told that shocks need replacement after 30,000 miles.

Don't know who told you that, but the shocks should not need replacement at 30K miles. As long as you are not having any of the problems mentioned above, keep the shocks you have unless you just want to upgrade.

if the shocks are bad you will know it every time you hit a bump. It will feel like the car is bottoming out and you will hear a loud thump. There is no mistaking it. Your shocks are fine, keep driving.

Just got new C6Z shocks from Gene. My Z06 has 67K now, no leaks, no problems (at least that I can notice), but every upgrade is welcome.
