Are the original f45 shocks still on the car?

I have a 1998 coupe and have the F45 shocks which were throwing the same error. I got advice about disabling them using the tech2 and so forth but nothing worked. Long story short I did end up replacing the shocks but the problem lay in the ignition switch. The F45 shocks were all okay to begin with. I replaced my $600 a piece in good working condition shocks for nothing. I did the ignition switch repair myself using Bill Curlee's (the electrical guru) post ..

and to get to the ignition switch I used these instructions halfway (though they apply to something else, it works to get to the switch).

When you hit the ignition switch, bad electrical contacts inside the switch can cause leakage of current being delivered to the ride control module, which then throws the code you mentioned. The only way to find out if you really have bad contacts inside your ignition switch is to either get the volt meter and check the output current (I am handicapped at the electrical bit) or pull the switch out and inspect yourself. If this does not work for you then your shocks are definitely shot. I learnt it the hard way, so I would say try the cheaper option first. For shocks this is what I did .
I purchased Bilstein C5 shocks for about $80 a piece. Also purchased these F45 simulators ..
