I understand the market for cars is in the toilet right now, but as I look for my next toy I was curious if the Fixed Roof Coupe Corvette is any more or less valuable (or sought after) compared to a targa top C5 ?
I personally own an FRC. I bought one for the reason that it's different than the coupes. I like the roof line on the FRC. As far as being more sought after or desirable that's up to any given individual. I will tell u this, they made way fewer FRC's than targa's. So that might say something.
It's worth more to enthusiasts but worth less in book value.
They are typically lacking in options (base a/c, base seats, usually doesn't have HUD, memory, etc)
They were stripped cars, but only $340 cheaper than a typical coupe when new. In their favor they did have the Z51 package standard. They didn't sellvery well in the beginning. It wasn't until the Zo6 package that the FRC took off in '01+
The original FRC's were meant to be a lower cost Corvette with less options. However, when the Z06 was introduced, the FRC was used exclusively. So, unless it's a Z06, it is not considered more desirable or valuable. But, like the others have said, it depends on what is more desirable to you.
Personally, I didn't buy a Z06 because I absolutely wanted a targa top.
I <3 my FRC. I love that I rarely see others, and running into enthusiasts when I'm out it always strikes a good conversation.
The low production numbers may one day make the cars more valuable, but for now it seems like pretty much everything isn't worth much at all.
On bright summer days it is a bit disappointing that it's so dark in the car. So if you're planning on a summer cruiser I'd consider a targa. If you plan on tracking the car, and don't mind a "fixed roof" you'll love the FRC.
Love the FRC'S, only time will tell if the FRC because of their lower production numbers will be worth anything. But for the time being I will keep mine and will continue to enjoy. Hopeful all C5 prices will rebound!
Don't know and don't care if the FRC are worth more or less than the coupe Vettes.
I just know that I fell in love with the Fixed Roof Coupe body style from day 1.
It is priceless to me!
I thought about this for awhile, and ya know, I think this is really a personal buyers like or dislike. I think, Or should I say, to me I wouldn't let a roofline stand between me a really decent, well cared for Corvette. But again, I really don't like 'Targa' cars, I like a convertible or a coupe but not something in the middle. But then again, that's just me. I think if you hold on till spring, and you photograph it really well, and place the adds in a good website or magazine you'll sell it for as much as any other FRC or Coupe. Either way, Good luck !

For the person who wants the FRC there will be a more limited selection available. It was originally planned as a less expensive alternative and lower priced than the coupes with the targa top. Personally, I prefer the targa coupe as did the significant majority of vette buyers. However, if there is a buyer looking for the FRC body style because that is their preference, they will have less opportunity to shop one FRC versus another. That can mean a quicker sale because they know there are fewer to choose from, but higher price for an originally less expensive car is less likely until you get out into classic vintage age cars.
