I recently went to GMPartsDirect.com site to order some parts. As I was finishing the order and clicked on checking out I notice the shipping cost was a little excessive. $64.40 for 3 small parts. The parts were, 1 key fob, 1 set of wheel locks and a plastic sensor that weights about 7 oz. They claim that their prices are lower than the dealer wholesale. That maybe until you pay the shipping cost, then it brings the price ABOVE dealer wholesale. Example: 1998 Corvette steering sensor from the dealer; list is $330, my cost is $236. GMpartsdirect cost is $198 + $43.30 shipping for a total of $241.30. If you order multiple parts, they DO NOT combine shipping cost. Each part has its own shipping cost and you pay that cost per part, but then they pack all the parts in one(1) box and send it ground which is a cheap way to ship. I wonder if this is legal with the United States Federal Trade Commission(FTC).
I sent a email to requesting an explanation why they do NOT DO combine shipping. Obviously it was a particle political answer that beat around the bush.
I would check with other vendors on pricing and combine shipping and compare.

GM Parts direct has the highest shipping I have ever seen across the board...they add shipping to every piece and they do not adjust it at the end if you order multiple pieces.
The dealer that sponsors our club gives us a cost + 10% discount on all GM parts so I don't use the large parts houses. But before the mentioned discount you had to look at what you were ordering before you ordered. Large items like hood liners, windshield cow, and heavy brake items were best purchased at the dealer due to shipping costs. I would check at my local dealer to see what they can do for you on cost of parts, in todays market they may be willing to deal.
I agree if your order 1 item shipping is high, however if you order a lot of items the way they ship it to alaska most cases is more then whati paid when i see the shipping price so it works out in my favor, i only order from them.
Amazon.com did that to me when I tried to order stones for a Dremel grinder. It said something like " shipping on this item is $7.00. So I tried to order 10 of them, and the shipping was totaled as $70.00
Obviously I didn't complete the order.

It pays to check your local dealer first, On small parts I found it to be cheaper at the local level, Maybe if I was buying something really costly I would check with the online dealers, But for the most part I buy local, No shipping......

that is how they make up there discounted prices. ask them if you can pick your item up in person for the same price, they will decline....
they are the same way.. i wanted to order 4 new wheel sensors and the shipping was going to be almost $40.00. told them what to do with there parts!!!!
I have had more then a few bad experience's are both major gm parts places on here. I dont like either to tell the truth. I'm about the try the other GM parts supplier on here due to his employee cost promo and see how it goes.

I paid only $23 to ship 4 shocks from them, very reasonable. Did you order 3 day shipping or something?
