Default Titanium Wheels Questions..?

What's the deal with the gold-ish titanium wheels? Were these an option? Are they rare? Are they a lighter wheel?

They were a very expensive option.

There is a vette here in town that has them, and they are a nice looking wheel. I have only seen that vette out like twice in the last couple of years.

They started out at a price of $3K, but by the time the '04 came out, they were down to $995 for a set. Nice wheels, lighter than the aluminum ones, and they look great on certain color cars.

It's a great looking wheel, too bad they didn't come in Z06 sizes...

I believe the thinspokes are slightly lighter than the magnesiums.

Comparing identical wheels, magnesium would be lighter than the same in aluminum...But in this case, there is a lot less material to the thinspokes, and because of that, they weigh less.

From my understanding, The magnesium rims weren't even offered through the whole first year because they ran out of stock. The second year they were offered, it was apparently a "silent" option that wasn't official but was still available to those who wanted them, but they came in "limited quantaties". That said, they didn't last very long.

For $2K, i'd think you could find some pretty dang nice aftermarkets.
