So, I'm in the position to repaint my entire car (2000 C5) due to a few things 'coming together' and I am looking at my options. Any advice from my fellow Vetters would be awesome.
Here are my options:
Body Paint:
- Stock yellow
- Flat yellow with or without flat black roof
- Flat black with gloss back roof -- including red pinstripe line at the join
Strip (Painted on 'CE' style (vettestripe.com):
- Gloss black
- Flat black
- Carbon fiber
- Back with 'true flames' starting at the front of the car and fading off
- Flat back on the hood and trunk flat yellow on the roof (If the car is flat yellow/flat black).
Go with a more exotic colour like yellow, light blue, snakeskin green (yes, there is one out there in light green and it rocks!)...black is just too common to be worth an expensive paintshop in my opinion.
My suggestion would be to post some pics of your car up on here and see if anyone would photoshop some ideas for you. You REALLY want to see a rough idea...this coming from the guy that did this lol...
Keep in mind that the yellow on your car right now is a tri-stage. I'm not really clear on what you want to do; but I just wanted to mention that the millenium yellow is a pain to match if you ever had to do any spot work or repairs.
The manager in the body shop looked up Lambo yellow and we are agreeing that its an awesome color... that might just be the winner! Now, the question is stripes or no stripes...
Per VerTigo456's Idea, here are some shots of my car:
Flat anything looks like primer to me. Of course that is just my opinion. I'm one of the few that like a shiny color, I guess
Maybe everything in a flat color, wheels, car, windows, you know. A nice accent would be flat yellow tires. Something else that is equilly in bad taste. Flat brown W/ huge flat yellow signs on the side saying;
CAR
Just so people could tell what it is.

Reason: my ugly shiny car signature
Yea, it's like that commercial where they find an oxidized red car in a junk yard. They sell some crappy paint restoring liquid to bring it back to its original luster.
Dull paint, I just don't get it. The car looks like it has been out in the sun and rain for a few years. "Now lets fix that dull finish with some Popeal, or whatever crap they are selling, that is a paint restorer"
I guess the upside is that the car will never have to be washed

its a throw back to the 60's cars that were all suped up and just primered while funds were saved for paintjobs. I think it looks cool, but i can't imagine doing it to any car i have (i have too much invested in polishing and wax kits to go completely maintenance free)
I would stay away from both black and yellow. Black shows every scratch or swirl, and is a pain to keep clean. If my car ever needs to get repainted it won't be black.
Yellow is too hard to match should you ever need a respray.
I would look into some custom color. That will set your car apart from others. I have seen some interesting blue and red colors on vettes. One of the blue ones looked a lot like the Nassau Blue color, which is my personal favorite color. Saw another vettte (FRC) that seemed to be painted magnetic red, which is also a very nice color.
I don't know if a Lambo color is different or the same as a Ferrari's, When I went to the paint shop they said if you're going to change your current color (NBM) go with a Ferrari's, they said it's called plastic color (that's why Ferraris always shine) and it will fit perfectly on C5 body panels.
As for your theme I would definitely add strips or yet even better an MCM hood with clear CF center
