Default Occasional Door Lock Problem

I cant figure out why my door lock button (only driverside) works when it wants to lately. Its been super cold here within the past week, so I'm wondering if that it. However it did do this in other temps a while ago, and the issue seems to come and go as it pleases. A search on the forum lead me to this sitehttp://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-g...w-problem.html

Does this sound like my problem? Also, anyone here willing to be paid for the labor, or sell these boards. I'm in no position to do anything involving soldering.

Thanks

I've had that problem on mine ever since I bought it in August 2004. It comes and goes though, it'll sometimes go many months working perfectly every single time, then it'll act up constantly for a week or two. I'm on a good stretch right now, it's worked 99.9% of the time for the past year. Because it works more often than not, I haven't bothered to pursue anything. I do notice that the problem tends to act up a little bit more in the cold months, but it's also happened the odd time in the summer too, so I don't think that is 100% of the reason.

My 2000 coupe sometimes does the same thing. I always just remember that chevy builds vettes!

If anybody know a reason for this off and on prob I would be interested in knowing as well!

Do you have the automatic lock/unlock function enabled on your key fob?

One the best things to do is check and clean your chassis grounds. The are 3 that are relative easy to get to, one each by the headlight motor down on the frame rail and one under the battery box. There is a sticky on electrical issues on the tech page. Good stuff.

I had a similar problem with my passenger door. A friendly forum member steered me in the right direction. All has been working fine for now.

Good luck.

Come on guys, the relays are the problem. It is a common problem with the C5. They are so cheap so don't waist your time living with the problem. If you can't use a soldering iron or don't feel comfortable working on the door control module, let me know and we can work something out. I have helped many forum members with this over the years.

Default Door lock problem

My 2000 C-5 had the same problem and I live where it don't get cold. I read on the forum about the cheap relays (GM parts are supplied by the lowest bidder). Follow the relay replacement post with a better quality relay and your lock problem will be gone.

My passenger "window down" button on my driver side switch was similar, I would sometimes have to press it kinda hard for it to work, and sometimes it didn't work at all. I took the switch out, and carefully using a razor blade, cut the rubber skin off from the back. then pulled the clear plastic filler pieces out and was able to get to the board. It was a little dirty on the board connection, some sorta soot (not sure what) but it wiped off easy. Then I put the plastic piece back in, carefully super-glued the rubber back and its good now. not sure if its your problem. good luck
