Default C6 seat height

Question for those with C6 seats in their C5. Is the seat bottom any higher than the stock seat, is it lower, same height? I'm leaning towards adding C6 seats to my Z but I am concerned they might raise my seating position. Right now my helmet touches the headliner, so if these seats raise my head I can't use them.

Thanks

I have them in my coupe. If you want to take a measurement from the seat bottom to some point on the roof I'll be glad to take the same measurement in my car.

Ok, thanks for the help. I'll send you a PM when I get the measurements.

Later!

Yes, they are a little thicker. You'll notice it when you compare your stock C5 seat belt receptacle to the ones on the stock C6's.

With my Z06 seat at its lowest position and measured from the lowest area of the bottom cushion I get 36 3/4" to the headliner.

I already answered it for you above, they are higher (thicker) on the bottom. You'll notice that seat belt buckle assembly does not come up as high on C6 seats.

Here's a picture. I'm guessing it's about one inch (1") difference.

You can see my last photo how I measured mine at 36 3/4", I put the seat as low as it would go, the the front of the seat is tipped up some.

Sorry, I was referring to waiting on some measurements that were offered to me. Which I got from 7LitreC5, it appears from those measurements and your picture the C6 seats are lower. Maybe you could pull out a tape and give a quick measurement, the more the data the better

rgg16g sent me a picture of how he did his measurement. I measured the same way and came up with 7/8" so your 1" estimate is right on.

Thanks!

Did you use the C6 seat base and sliders or the C5? From what I have read I could use both, but it appears the wiring would be easier with the C5 base.

It really depends on what C6 and C5 setas you have. The C6 seats with bolster controls require additional wiring over that of a C5 and thus you would need to use the C6 wiring to make the side bolster controls work.

Additionally, the Z06 comes with no wiring on the passenger side to control the other seat if you want adjustable seats.

I made up my own harness for the passenger seat and used C5 seat rails that I purchased for both sides to make everything work correctly and get no error code messages.

Not sure what model vette you have, (FRC, Coupe or Z06). The C6 seats you see in the picture are fixed bolsters like the FRC / Z06 seats. So they worked well with the C5 seat rails.

Thanks for the assistance. Looks like I'm looking for the basic C6 seat like a 1LT. That should work easily in my 03 Z06. If I find them to high I might try adapting the driver seat to a manual slider.

Just so you know the C6 manual slider can be used on either the drivers or passenger side, just have to cut off the seat belt stud on one side as the C6 manual sliders have studs on both sides.

The C6 manual seat rail stud hits the seat belt retractors on the C5.

BTW, just went out and took measurement of seat height and it's 35.5" seat bottom to headliner.

Does not take in to account some settling of your weight on the bootom of the seat cushion.

LT1 seats on C5 electric seat rails set all the way down and pretty far back as I'm about 6 ft.
