They all sound different. Guess it really depends on what you are looking for. I'm planning on getting the GHL Bullet setup for my '99 coupe with AT. It is supposed to give the classic muscle car sound (or close to it) which is what I'm looking for.
Alex is right. Transmission doesn't influence the exhaust sound.
It really boils down to what you are looking for. I run Corsa Pace exhaust, with Kooks headers and High Flow Cats in my 2000 A4 vert. I was looking for a moderate rumble that opened up to a roar when I put my foot down. Also wanted to avoid the drone at cruising speed that comes with some systems. Corsa delivered.

The transmission doesn't effect the exhaust sound, BUT with a manual trans if there is any "drone" you can shift out of the "drone zone" that is probably why the original poster is asking.
I have GHL Bullets on mine (Auto) and love it. Heck it could be louder and I wouldn't have a problem with it.
Dad has B&B Bullets with Headers, etc. His is louder.

I'd be very careful about doing that if I were you.
GHL advertises that there is no drone with the bullets and that's not true. I have GHL bullets on my car and at 1500 rpm, there is a terrible drone. It goes away quickly but you'll find that in town, you hit 1500 rpms a LOT. If I had it to do over again, I'd get the Corsa Pace Car system. Since I've had my GHL's I've heard a dealer (who sells both) say that GHL's drone with automatics, so it's not just mine. I strongly recommend that you ride in an automatic car with GHL's before buying.
I also vote for the GHL setup. I have them on my car and wouldnt change them for anything. I havent heard another corvette that sounds like mine. I am always getting complimants on how the car sounds.
