I took the hoops in to a local upholsterer and had him match the carpet in the car and wrap the hoop bases. They friction fit in place and are very stable and secure.
If I need to remove them down the line there are no repairs to do on the factory carpet as there was no need to cut holes in them.

Here is what I did.

I installed these and did use the self-tapping screws as well as the epoxy. It does work, however you have to be real careful with the screws. A friend of mine also did his and accidently drilled a hole through his carbon cannister.
The hardest part IMO is the carpet cut. I finished mine off with some custom trim at the base to help it sit better against the carpet. I've seen other guys use mocked up plumping rings that interestingly look very good. There are many options.

Nice idea, however I think anything with a friction fit would become a projectile in the event you were in an accident.

The safest way is to drop the gas tanks, however if you're really careful, you can use self-tapping screws in the lower holes.
Speaking of these seat hoops. The prices of ones for the Corvette, I find a bit high. Here's what I did, I purchased a pair of these for $75.00

Since they are cosmetic, I simply mounted these with a couple of brackets. With the seatback in place, they look excellent, and you wouldn't notice the difference unless you moved the seatback forward.
