Default two newbie questions

I'm in the middle stages of my search for my first corvette, and I've got a couple questions I was hoping you guys could answer.

1) I'm looking at a car i found on autotrader, and it has an interesting set of wheels on it. I haven't seen many, if any, other vettes with these wheels. I believe they are stock magnesium wheels. Were they an option in 2004? Besides the weight savings, is there anything particularly desirable about them? Are there any downsides to them? I dont know that I like the gold-ish color, but I think their rarity makes them kind of cool.

2) I'm jumping the gun on this one, since I dont even have a vette yet, but I've seen a couple vettes on here that have valvecovers that look more like they belong on a traditional smallblock, like THESE. This car's engine looks pretty significantly modified, but I'm wondering what it takes to install valvecovers like that, because I think they look much better than either the plastic cover or the standard ignition coils underneath.

Thanks for your help.

Not sure what year they are from, But they are a nice light wheel and look good.

There are a couple ways to go with this, You can get the coils relocated and get a nice set of valve covers or you can get the rasied valve covers where the coils are mounted in the covers.
All it takes is money and a lot of it.

How much money is a lot? I'm guessing there's a reason why more people dont do this.

There was a place that custom made the covers and I believe they were around 1000 bucks. I could be wrong on the price, I just know it was a lot.

It seems that there are as many ways to customize your Corvette as there are Corvettes in the world. Hope you find your car soon.
