Default Interior advice.

Basicly i have an 02 Elec Blue coupe. with black leather. as everyone can guess my seats went to ****. drivers has a rip in it and the leather just overall looks like crap. Basicly Im lost. I see many people go with re-doing the seats with new covers and padding, but to be honest i cant find any patterns i like and i personally think they end up looking really cheesy and cheap when they are done. basicly im just lookin for a finger to point me in the right direction.

Replace the foam on the drivers at least if the passenger isn't used much leave that foam.
Then you can get some low mileage stock covers from someone on the forum and have them installed and they will wear just like yours in the same time. Or you can get some seat covers from leatherseats.com which are nice or someone like vette essentials or caravaggio for an upgraded set but it will be very expensive the last 2 routes.

How are your seats getting so worn out? I have a set of stock black sport seats in my car and they had 20k miles when I got them and I added 30k miles easy and they look brand new. You have to learn how to get in and out gently and how to use some meguires leather wipes once a week or every couple weeks and let it soak in for a few days when you arent driving the car.

Thanks for the advice, ill have to check those places out. The previous owner did a number on them, he must have left the roof off all the time and parked in the beating sun. TOTAL moron. leather got cracked and dried out.. it feels like sand paper haha

in a perfect world, the suggestion of "get some new seats!' would actually be viable, if it weren't for the price gap and money the way it is now...

good luck on solving your problem man

Default My advice

If you plan on keeping the car for a good number of years my advice is to go to an upholstery shop and have the seats redone in a good quality leather, vat dyed, that will last. It will cost more than buying ready made seat covers but should look infinitely better and last much longer. All seat covers I have seen pictured on the C4 and C5 forums generally look bad. They are made to be easy to install which means they are made too big. A good fitting cover has to be tight and then the average person cannot install them correctly. I have done upholstery on collector cars for the last 25 years and I can tell when upholstery looks good or bad.

Check out the offerings of Vette Essentials. Top quality leather and they can customize the seats just about any way you want. That is going to be my next purchase for my car.

connelly's hide food is another great product to re-nourish the "skins". it is the product of choice of rolls royce among others.

I suggest designing your own seats and sending DJ Motorsports and email. They can make them however you want. They did mine and I couldn't be happier.
