Does anyone know who makes the stock exhaust?
Is it a recognizable company or some generic brand?
It sounds good but I think it could sound meaner.
Thanks.

The stock exhaust is most likely made by some generic supplier to GM, and it is maybe the single most modified thing on these cars. Most hate the sound (or lack of it) and install something else. There are lots of choices available.
I notice that you are in Phoenix - if you ever need or want to change it to something else, or if you need any Corvette accessories, I"m located in Tempe! Stop by the shop sometime and I'll show you some neat stuff!
headers, no cats, x-pipe and I have a sound many have complimented on, no loud junk like borla for me.but my opinion only some like it loud...to each his own
Simple,,and direct to the point!! At the very least,,they should have done something like the Corsa Touring from the factory!! They are quiet enough to be non offending,,but STILL make it at least sound like a sports car. Then people could go from there if they wanted more,,but at least SOME would have been happy. Stock sucks on the C5 and I'm in my early 60's!!Of course I'm one that will NEVER grow up,,we've even run around with straight pipes for a while!!

Hard to tell just who makes the stock factory exhaust since it only has GM part numbers on it. Perhaps the NCM or even an e-mail to customer relations at the factory may yield you an answer.
Thanks for all the useful info.
My stock C5 does sound better than my stock 4Runner,
however, I agree that a sports car should sound a little tuffer.
And Randy, send me your address & I stop by to say "hi".

First thing I changed on my Vette...new intake, long headers, high-flow cats, x-pipe and a magnaflow exhaust. then a tune to get it all working properly.
I like my exhaust, it has a good low rumble, not too annoying, a hearty growl at high rev and a smooth purr at highway cruise speeds.
then get rid of the runflats for an even quieter ride.

The stock exhaust is made by a company that loves "heavy metal".
Have you picked one of the cat-back's up?? They weigh a ton!!
Get an after market exhaust. Plenty to choose from. Do a search and you'll find video clips so you can get an idea how they sound too. Anything will sound better and weigh less than stock.
