Default Bridgestone or Nitto?

Hello Guys

I need your advice please as I am about to pull the trigger on new tires for my brand spankin new Iforged wheels.

Which tire Bridgeston, Nitto or other would be best for summer driving only, no track time?

I have looked and priced the Nitto Invo and BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW NT Tires.

Thanks for your input.

Well I can't speak for the NITTO's, although a friend of mine has them and really likes them (Don't know which ones)

I though am running the Bridgestone Potenza RE050A (Non-Run Flat) 305/30/19 out back and 245/40/18 Front - They have a 140 UTQG rating (Tread Life rating, which means it has a softer rubber and hooks waaaaay better) plus they have a 10/32 tread depth!

I have 701 RWHP and 582 RWTQ and up till I got these I had plenty of trouble hooking up at 75 MPH now I can grab traction at 65 MPH which is huge in my book, they are smooooooth and ride quiet, I also get excellent traction from the light (Well in comparison to other tires, due to the softer rubber)

Thanks,Matt

Both get good reviews here. I think I would go with the Bridgestones myself, but either tire would serve you well.

Nitto Invo's here as well. Been running them for a little over a year. Great tire for the money. Get a lot of compliments on them as well. Would buy again, no doubt!!

I'm running the BST RE050 and RE050A's I've got about 20k-25k miles on them and they are about half worn out.

They have excellent traction even being runflats....as indicated by a 0-60 time of 3.97s....with my modest power levels.

I have worked in the tire industry for 8 of the last 10 years. If were to buy new tires for my vette. I would choose the BFG KDW's flamey tread pattern.

Why? Because they are the best bang for the buck....after pricing Bridgestone, Michelin, Nitto, etc.

To Op: the KDW NT means new tread which would be the flame design.

On my C5, I run the NITTO 555 R2 Extremes and really like them, and have no issues. Have not run the Bridgestones, but I hear good things about them.

The Z I run the NITTO NT05's really like both

I looked at both, and liked both. The nittos are supposedly softer. I have never had nittos, and after reading so many positive comments about the aggressive tread, soft rubber etc., I went with them. Still waiting on them, but they are on order.

My vette is a second car so soft tires are fine. They do have a pretty cool tread pattern.

I was planning on 305's, but will go w/ 295, or 315's also. I'm very aware of the A/H, and T/C issues that can arise if the front aren't about 1/2" smaller. Had the is issue on my 03Z and that's why I'm trying to stay close to stock and the ratio front to rear, but invo's aren't making it easy w/ the front sizes. May have to go to W/O's.

Or are you running some other sizes? The reason I ask is I do not see the 305 or 315 for an 18" rim, only 19"

The tire combinations I chose are within 0.1" of overall diameter when compared to the OEM sizes. I was fortunate to be buying new rims so I made sure that the tire sizes worked with both the overall diameter and the tires being able to go on the width wheels I wanted. Post or PM me the specifics on your rims and I'll tell you what would work from the Invo line. You can go with different diameter tires as long as the fron to back difference is at least 1/2 inch. Speedometer error from the different diameter rears can be corrected by anyone that has a TECH II. There are settings that allow you to tell the computer your tire size so it can calculate the speed of the vehicle correctly.
Yes, I'm staying stock w/ this car. I really wanted to get Invos, as I heard nothing but good about them. But they don't seem to offer a front tire for the C5Z. I see that the NT555 xtreme perf has a 275/40 for up front. May have to go that route or Firestone WO. When I ran 18's all around on my 03Z the TC and AH went crazy, and I was told by several guys to change the sizes to the stock ratio's because it couldn't be tuned out.? So are you saying just the speedo can be adjusted or both? Thanks Jim

I put a new set of Bridgestone Potenza's (17/18's) on mine about two months ago. Very satisfied with them. No cold weather spinning problems with them at all, they hold. Nice smooth quite highway ride as well.
