Most people will require full payment before they ship their car. Have you actually bought a car or is this hypothetical.
If you get spooked at all have a forum member or one of those services check the car out to make sure it exists (and is as advertised) before you drop the coin. I usually have them fedex the title.
You can google vehicle transport and have them compete for your business...
I drove to just North of Detroit, Michigan to look at the Vette that I bought. I test drove it, did the paperwork and took the title home with me. From home, I then had it put on a semi the next week and delivered to me in Pittsburgh. All in all, it was a great transaction. I even go and talk to the former owner every year when I go to Carlisle.
But, if you are not able to go and look at it, try to get someone here on the forum to take a look at it for you. Myself, I would not buy a car without looking at and test driving it first. Good luck in what you decide to do.
From what I have heard, it usually costs more to ship it then it would to fly to most locales and pick it up.
I shipped a car from Germany back in 1999 and it was only $700 but from what I have heard that can double just to truck a car across a few states in todays prices.
If the car you want happens to be in Florida, let me know and I will go look at it for you. Gives me an excuse to take mine for a drive!!!
