We are finishing up the Vararam install, and just wondering if that piece is important? I'm not mechanic savvy, but it seems it restricts the flow of air more than opening it, but again, not my area of expertise.
So, what is it, what is the purpose, and does it need to go back in its hole?
It is supposed to eliminate the need for a ported throttle body. If you have the fullon Vararam installed , You shouldnt notice any difference because with it installed the performance difference is very minor.
I had picked up one of those, once I bought the rest of the vararam setup I threw it out. Had the same notion you have, seems like it might be a little constrictive

Yeah, I mean if it has a dire purpose, I'll put it back, but...I'm not seeing the point.
What he said. I bought one in addition to the setup I already had. Installed it, couldnt see any difference. When it came time to clean my Blackwing filter, I disassembled the system, took the VR piece, put it in the toolbox, been there ever since. Not a dire piece.
My throttle response increased with it... I found out because my car came with one in it and I thought what's this snake oil cr*p? I removed it and lost some throttle response... I put it back in and am happy with it...
