Default Replacement Bulbs - HID Option?

Gentlemen,

I'm looking to replace headlight bulbs on my Z16; any good / bad experiences with HID's or should I just stick with OEM.

Thanks,
Craig

Go with Silver Star bulbs, not unless you are going to change over to the HIDs that include changing the projectors and the lenses. The HID "Bulb" converions are not worth it. I dumped the HID bulb conversion when one bulb stopped working (lasted about a year). I can see fine with the SS. I'm probably going to switch my high beam and fogs to SS

HIDS are def. worth the money.

Stock is very dangerous IMO. When I first got my C5 2.5 years ago I drove at night in the rain and couldn't see anything at all.

The plug n play kits are great for a budget. We have them starting at $80

We cover them with our new 2 year warranty.

The best option would be projectors. They have a nice sharp cutoff to them. They can be a little more expensive though.

We have these in stock now

See more here: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-p...y-to-ship.html

These will be out soon

This pic shows the final height which is 98-100 mm. We still need to get a measurement of stock, but we're thinking they open around 70mm less than stock.

These pics are from the driver seat/drivers perspective. Both headlights have pretty much disappeared from view! The second picture was taken with the camera just under the rearview mirror.

These are just prototype pics. We have the shroud design in the works, but not released yet.

Stick with stock. I installed an aftermarket HID plug n play kit that cost $400. Piece of garbage. Visibility was worse than stock, ballasts fire off sometimes, and sometimes not, leaving you with no lights or only 1 light.

My C6 Z06 has factory HID lights that are good but my C5 now has great Silver Star bulbs that light up everytime and provide good visibility. Save your money, stay stock.

All I run in my cars and Bikes are HID's. The give more light output, use less power minus first igniting.

The HID Kits I have purchased are all from the same company (4 kits). They have worked now for well over 3 years with no issues. As long as you buy a kit with good ballasts and warranty you wont have an issue.

I bought my set for my truck for $65 shipped. The company I use uses Phillips ballast, they are water proof, vibration resistant. They give a lifetime warranty.

HID's all the way.

I've done Silver Star's and HIR's... noting stopped my quest for more light until I bought HID's 3 years ago...

HID's... don't drive in the dark without them...
