Default How do you remove the passenger seat?

Was driving to work this morning and dropped it into second and stomped on it to pass this guy who was being a complete butt, well, hot chocolate went flying out of the cup holder and into the passenger seat. Lid came off and it went all over the place. :mad Now I have to get the carpet cleaned and I wanted to pull the seat out to clean the chocolate crap out from underneath.

I saw several bolts that look like they are secured with locknuts at the rear base of the seat, but there are no threads on them, so that worries me. Can someone tell me how to remove the seat so I can clean the floorboard and the carpet underneath? TIA

Move the seat to it's most forward location and you'll see the two rear nuts that secure it in back, then move the seat all the way back and you'll see two black plastic covers with plastic pins in the center of them, take a small flat blade screw driver and pry the center part of the pin straight out then the whole pin will slide out once you've done this, after the pins are pulled the plastic cover will come off, you need to pull it straight forward towards the front of the car as it has guides made on it, then remove the nuts and the seat pulls right out.

Hi Silver Ghost -

Here are the instructions from the manual -

Protect the interior and/or provide access for seat removal as follows:

Tilt the steering wheel full up.
Remove the coupe's roof lift off panel to provide additional space for seat removal and/or place a protective cover over the sill plate and door trim panel.
Lower the convertible's folding top to provide additional space for seat removal and/or place a protective cover over the sill plate and door trim panel.
Place a protective cover over the hardtop's sill plate and door trim panel.

Position the seat rearward.
Remove the push pins and covers from the front of the adjuster legs.
Remove the nuts from the front of the adjuster legs.
Remove the nuts attaching the rear adjuster legs.
Remove the seat and/or the adjuster(s).

And here is a link to the online service manual page:

Thanks guys. It sounds pretty straightforward. I had the carpet cleaned last night and got most of the chocolate out of it. Still a spot here and there, but I will be able to remove that myself.

Thanks again for the replies. :D

I could not resist to reply here, this answer won't help you but it just reminded me of a funny story! (at least it was to me when it happened) When I first got my C5 I took my 80 year old mom for a ride! She was looking all around at everything in the car and asking all kinds of questions. The car is a bit different from her Taurus wagon! I was telling her how the glass roof panel comes off and just after explaining that she saw the "eject" button on the dash (radio) and she said "Oh my God, I thought that kind of thing was only in the movies" Sorry, I know this was no help to your problem, but it's always worth a smile! I think you had to be there to really get the full impact of the story! She was serious, at first anyway! :)
