Well, I'd add it to an almost empty tank so it can get mixed into both tanks.

I usually buy two at a time and try to always keep one in the trunk.

Doesnt matter if the tank is full or empty when you add it because the driving around will mix the product in the fuel and your return line of your FI manifold will insure that it gets mixed in both tanks.

Reason: EPA sets the fuel requirements by geographic area and season and gasoline pipelines all "tend" to offload at the same regional places! If you went to see for yourself you would see branded trucks from many brands and independents in line for their company's "special" fuels!
Arco gas sucks no matter how you toss the dice. It's clogged up the injectors on 3 of my cars; all newer cars. I stopped using it after thinking the same thing as you.

I don't use anything but Chevron given the ability to find one. Mobile is my second choice even though I hate the Exxon company. Shell and 76 are a last resort. I used to use Shell a lot until I found out they're responsible for the sulfur deposits on the sending unit.

As for using Techron, it works. But I NEVER need it because I only use Chevron gas in the first place. A bottle of techron runs $15-$20, but filling up with Chevron costs the same as filling up with any other gas other than Arco. The 76 and Shell here is about the same price (usually within 1-2 cents).

Hypothetically, if all gasoline was the same no matter where it came from I'd still choose Chevron for 3 reasons:

1) The stations are generally cleaner
2) Why cheap out on gas when we have Corvettes? If there's a chance Chevron is better, why risk it for $1?
3) Because I've never had a single bit of trouble with the equipment, gas, or workers at Chevron. Whereas I cannot say the same for Shell, Arco, or Union 76.

No idea where you are buying it but around here the regular price is @ $11.00 for the 20 oz bottle. Almost always on sale for 50% off the second bottle when you buy 2 so about $8.00 a bottle.
