Gentleman,
Does anyone have pictures of the rear carpet after installing after market hoops? My carpet bunched and looks has an unfinished look due to the cutting. Any help would be appreciated.

You can go to a hardware store or Lowes or Home Depot and in the plumbing section buy chromed plastic rings for under $5 each (escutcheon - A decorative and/or protective plate or bezel to fill the gap between a switch, pipe, valve, control ****, etc., and the surface from which it protrudes) that you can slit in the back, fit around the hoops. It will cover the imperfect fit between the carpet and hoops.
By leaving the slit at the back it will be all but invisible.
I installed my hoops a few years ago and ran into a similar problem. I was not happy with the final cut so I had some custom vinyl rings installed and now they look great.
If anyone else is considering this mod, here is my suggestion...
Pull the carpet back and install the hoops, either by epoxy and/or epoxy and self-tapping screws which is how I did it. Be careful not to drill too far in as you can puncture the gas tank, carbon cannistor or cross fuel line (or a combination).
After the hoops are installed, (and here is my learned the hard way suggestion), drive the Vette over to a professional auto upholster shop and have them complete the carpet cut. They have the tools and expertise to make it look perfect. You probably just spent at least $500 on your hoops, so don't go cheap at the end of the installation. My friend did it this way and only spent $50 to have a local pro do it. Paid him cash and it took him less than 30 minutes.
