These seemed to be popular a long time ago but you never hear of them anymore. The antenna on my C5 seems to be a popular discussion point when one of my buddies comes over and he always says you should just get one of those.
My gut says...they just suck and that is why I never hear of them anymore. Did some searches and didn't see anything specifically about these so I figured I'd throw it out there.
I'd love to do something about that antenna....right now was thinking about going with one of those shorty antennas that one of the forum members (forget the name right now) has been selling....just wonder what all the options are.
Well I have an '01 coupe, and I don't have an antenna on my car, it is in the front windshield glass. So I guess they are still doing it. My radio woks fine.
Mines in the front windshield and I get no reception at all. I read on here though when you put aftermarket radio units in, it for some reason has poor reception. My head unit is Sirius ready, so I think I'm going to just end up paying for that (just have to get around to pulling the head unit).
Years ago when I had a '69 Nova, I took it to a body shop to shave the antenna and put in an antenna that went on the inside stickied to roof with double stick tape. Some one told me they sold them at Radio Shack after I had mail orderd mine from Year One or some such place. Thinking of doing this again for my GPS real time traffic monitor, since my mast is hooked up to my HD tuner.
i have a 04 convert and i have a regular mast antenna (as already mentioned in the thread). i had a 1970 impala with the antenna in the front glass (a big "feature" back then, lol) and it was a piece of crap. reception was marginal. i can only imagine what it was like in a "fringe" area, as i lived in a metropolitan area with plenty of "coverage'. back then, it wasn't unusual to have folks adding a regular mast type antenna to get better reception. i guess they have come a long way as the folks who responded to this thread seem to be pretty pleased with their reception.

Coupes have the antenna in the windshield and the rear glass. The issue is when you put in an aftermarket radio you lose the antenna in the rear. It is in the wiring to the stock radio. There is a fix for it to get the rear antenna hooked back up. You can look it up in the stereo section. Been a while since I seen it so I don't remember the fix off hand.

All C5 coupes have a front AND a rear antenna in the windshield/window glass.
All FRC's and convertibles have an exterior radio antenna on the right rear fender. The convertible version is powered (retractable) and the FRC is fixed.
