Default Question about bilstein shocks

My Z is already lowered (by previous owner). It also has the stock 01
Z06 shocks. I did a search on Bilstein shocks and i read that they are shorter than the stock shocks. If I was to install some bilstein sport shocks, do I need to adjust the lowering bolts on the front and /or rear? Also I saw a link on how to install stock shocks on a C5 and the guy had to compress the front shock to get it off the car and he had to compress the new shock (stock shock) to put it on the car. Since the bilsteins are shorter than the stock shock, will I need to compress it to get it on the front?

I'm not sure about the answer to this question but, you can call Bilstein directly. They are friendly and can usually answer your question.

You will have to compress both the front and rear shocks. Use a piece of wire. The Bilstein shocks in the front are not shorter then stock Z06 shocks. They are actually longer when compressed fully. I believe the backs are shorter.

Just put the frame on jack stands and let the suspension drop down fully. Put a jack under each spring bolt and play with the control arm to get the desired length for your install, if compressing the shock doesn't work.
