[Z06] header install (shorty) instructions
I removed the battery and the plastic surround around the battery.
Be careful when disconnecting the O2 sensors, the way the plastic securing pieces are attached to the frame is a bear to remove, I busted one of the **** on one of mine.
Remove the O2 sensors themselves when the manifolds are out of the car
The inside bolts on the header to exhaust pipe are a bear (might be because I didn't have mine up in the air much), but it is still TIGHT!
Loosen the 2 bolts that attach the H pipe to the underside of the car (up front)
Remove the coil on plug units (don't mix them up)
I did NOT remove the alternator (disconnected all the wires in the back of it)
I removed the plugs after I removed the manifolds, and installed new ones before I installed the headers.
BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN INSTALLING THE HEADER BOLTS - you do not want to strip one in the aluminum head!!!
TAKE YOUR TIME
I did mine over 4 days, just kind of piddling with it, if I got tired or frustrated, I went in the house for the night.
Good lighting!!
Good tools
Sorry these are not in any kind of order, I just slammed them down fast for you!
Hope this helps :D

Thanks. :D
I am going to do this too, all this info is great.
One Question?
Do you mean to remove the coil plug wires, or the actual coil packs themselves?
If you do need to remove the coil packs, is it really necessary? No one else has said this.
Y2k:
For my 01 Z06, I got the B&B headers. I have been told to use 97-00 manifold gaskets. Don't forget all the gaskets.
I am also picking up spark plugs and wires (NGK, MSD). Possibly 180 stat too.
Might as well do everything at once.
I went with the STinger XR package offered by Halltech. From ther dyno results they are claiming 14.5 RWHP from the headers and 9.5 from the exhaust. Both are Borla products. If the numbers are correct the package rocks because it is only 998.00 for forum members.
yellow z06. thanks for the information! it will be a big help when I take this project on. I had planned on three days but knowing me it will take a week!
Gundam z06 - I have the MSDs installed now, I guess when I do the headers I can do the plugs. Thanks for th info on the gaskets

I don't think the gain is worth the expense. I did not dyno it. JMHO.
The B&B instructions say remove coil packs. Only 4 bolts (if I recall correctly) just makes it easier to go ahead and get them out of the way.
I also changed plugs and wires while I was there.
Most say 10hp for shortys, more for long tubes, although Halltech only got 3. I can tell you I can definately FEEL it.
I do not think 3 could be detected. B&B supplies a sheet with the dyno #'s which bears the 10 hp gain out.
HTH

I bought these off a forum member, and he had them installed by West Coast.
So I have no instructions with them.
All this help is greatly appreciated.
I still need to gather parts before the install. And if possible a dyno.
Thanks A Million.
