Default Not so smart tint question/

The first owner of my coupe has some top of the line tint on this coupe and it was very well done......but the driver and passenger windows are not near dark enough for me........is it doable to tint over tint ??? or should I remove the old tint?...the back glass although is the same level of tint, the installers did such a good job with the dot matrix that I willl leave it in place.....please don't beat up to bad and is the stuff hard remove??

I believe common practice is to remove old tint and then re-tint.

Just removed the tint from mine. Had 2 coats. Got a ticket for it. It measured 17%. I even managed to remove the top coat on the passenger side while leaving the bottom coat intact. Two coats is fine.

Two coats of tint is common place and acceptable! I too have multiple coats of tint on multiple automobiles. It is really common for shops to use multiple layers when trying to match factory installed tint.

Old tint removal for best results, the shop doing the re-tint will remove it for you!

If you want the rear re-done show them the quality of the frst job and see if they can match it but darker - just talk to them

Thanks,Matt

I would remove the old tint first. I think it would hold up much better doing it that way.

Has anyone went about removing the old tint on the back of the vettes with the defroster? I had one tinter tell me that if they remove it, they are not reliable if the defroster comes off and is very costly to get put back on.
