Corvette Key Fob question

I am doing some work on a friends car that he just bought. The car is an 04 coupe and it only came with one key fob. He had a 99 at one time and still has a new GM sealed key fob in the package. Can I get the 99 key fob to work with the 04. Thanks in advamce.. Jay

no the 99 fob will only work for 97-99 far as i know and then the 00 is the only 1 that works for 00 and i believe 01-04 all wark on the same cars

That's the way I understand it too. But good news is the '04 fob is cheaper than the other two types.
