Default 1999 FRC - value..

I had someone see my C-5 hardtop "torch red" , very nice exterior and interior, they offered to pay $15,000 for it without physically seeing the vette. They would come to my city and pay cash and drive it home. Just not sure if I'm ready and a good deal..She is a 1999 FRC with newly installed "aftermarket Z06 wheel" and newer tires, has 98K original miles...2nd owner, very tight engine, aftermarket exhaust, pioneer dvd player/navigation system. I know what KBB states, but also know it's a tool ...

You really have to look at it as:

What will the $15K do for you at this time and how it furthers the pursuit of your goals?

IMHO $15K is a fair price for a buyer to pay for a 99 with 100K miles on it.

Under 50K miles maybe $17K.

My son bought a 02 ZO6 EB with low miles for $20K a few months ago to give you an idea of relative value.

I am in the market to buy right now, and though I'm only looking at the 01-04 coupes with less than 50,000 miles, I've seen plenty out there in there for approx $20k (with some below that). To me, $15k for a '99 with 100k miles sounds very fair for both sides.

Are you looking to sell? What would you do with the cash? If you were looking to unload it or to get a newer vette or something and wanted down payment money then maybe look into it. I'd ask 16000, maybe 16500 at least back and see where it goes from there. I think you can sell it all day long for the 15000 price though, or at least close to that.

It's the miles which make the difference...

Thats the thing I'm finding in my search. There are just so many guys out there who buy these cars and just use them as weekend toys, high mileage cars are the exception rather than the rule. I'm amazed at the number of 30k mile cars there are around for very reasonable prices.

Sounds a bit high to me, so I'd take it only if I really needed to get a different car. It's not so much that you can pay all the transaction costs and turn arond and get a better Vette for what you'd net on the hardtop....

It's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

I paid $15.5K for my '99 Torch Red FRC in August of '07 and it had 112K on it...I think $15K is fair but still, selling 'em is hard to do!

You took the words out of my mouth... I had to do a double take to make sure this wasn't me posting I bought my '99 Torch Red FRC in March 07 for $15.5k with 115k on it. Sounds like that was the going price for higher mile FRCs three years ago.

For a reference cost - a dealer friend of mine has a '99 TR FRC on his lot with 79k miles and he is asking $14k. It is in very nice, stock condition.

Good luck with your decision. I would be willing to sell mine in favor of a '05-'07 CTS-V, but with the 187k miles on my FRC it simply won't bring much money. I love the C5 - just could use a back seat.

A simple tip,,,If you are selling,,Check N.A.D.A. AND Kelly Blue Book!! In general terms NADA is a bit more optimistic on their prices but are good places to start in determining your values,,,and go from there. 25 months ago I paid $18,600 for my 2000 FRC with 55,500 miles and just about all options available on FRC's(That list was somewhat limited for FRC's).Without checking,,seems like a pretty good ballpark figure,,now,,do you actually want to sell it. Personally I hike having a car that is just a bit different (for those who know),,a limited supply left IMO,,not a whole lot of them left (in relative terms) and that number gets smaller as they are taken off the road for racing,,wrecked etc.. A potential collector,,,not really,,at least in my lifetime, but to me a bit more interesting that the average coupe!!

If selling is what you want to do, then $15K is a pretty fair price for the car as you describe it. Probably won't get a much better deal on it.

I find the whole thing suspicious. Someone out of the blue see’s a picture of your car, offers you cash with out ever physically seeing it. All while the car was not for sale in the first place? The next communication from them could be “Due to a change in circumstances, we can send you a check for $18,000 if you could send us $3,000 back”.

No you are way off track, they saw my vette online from a previous auto show and made some inquiries on it actually. Need to rub that crystal ball, it's not giving accurate readings... appreciate the input..

Sounds good, you did not make that clear in your original post on how they found your car.

I bought my 99 FRC with 82k miles last August for $13800, the guy wanted $15000, talked him down and showed him cash in hand.
